Dear friends: As we come to the end of June, we conclude with a very special celebration of Gay Pride month as we welcome Rabbi Micah Buck-Yael to share words of Torah with us at our
PRIDE SHABBAT on FRIDAY, JUNE 26th, 2020 at 7:30 streamed on the Temple Website and Facebook.
Rabbi Micah Buck-Yael is the Director of Education and Training at Keshet, a non-profit organization that works for the full equality of all LGBTQ Jews and their families in Jewish life. Before Keshet, Micah was Coordinator of Community Chaplaincy with the Jewish Family & Children’s Service of St. Louis, providing personalized support, connection, and meaningful programming for individuals throughout the St. Louis community. His work took him to hospitals, nursing care facilities, private residences, and many unexpected places!
Micah has his BA in Jewish, Islamic, and Near Eastern Studies from Washington University in St. Louis, and his MA in Talmud and Rabbinic Literature and Rabbinic Ordination from The Jewish Theological Seminary. Throughout his career, Micah has advocated and educated for LGBTQ justice, leading trainings and consultations within his local community and the broader Jewish community nationwide. Micah will share words of Torah with us and our service will include special liturgy and songs to celebrate the LGBTQ community.
Shaari Emeth has always been a welcoming and inclusive community, one that believes that all people are created in the image of God. If you would like to share that sense of inclusiveness with others, consider printing a sign to place on your door for Pride Shabbat.
If you do post a sign, take a picture of you and the sign, and share it on Facebook or other social media platforms and don’t forget to tag Temple Shaari Emeth when you post.
