Sunday Series: Jewish Craftsmanship: Building Sacred Spaces
Sunday, May 21, 2023 • 1 Sivan 5783
11:30 AM - 1:00 PMLead By: Rabbi Jonathan Falco
When conjuring in one’s mind a stereotypically “Jewish profession,” the image is often far from that of a Jew with a hammer in one hand and locally sourced wood in the other. However, throughout the ages, this very depiction emblemized Jewish professional and communal life as Jews worked to build the spaces they needed for public worship and religious gathering. The marriage of Jewish woodworking and architectural competency combine to produce the beautiful structures in which our foreparents of generations past would commonly dwell. Join Rabbi Falco as he guides our way through the history of Jewish craftsmanship and its evolution into the modern synagogue styles we recognize today. (in person and online)
