Paolo will discuss the tragedy of the Portuguese Inquisition and the resulting Crypto-Jews of Portugal who survived over 400 years of persecution in secret.

Paolo Scheffer, (Adar David ben Scheffer) is an International Lecturer, and Educator who is steeped in the history of the Mediterranean regions of Portugal, Spain, and Italy. Raised in the USA, Paolo studied Art History in New York and completed his graduate work in Rome. He returned to his native Iberia in 2007 and learned of his own family’s Jewish past.
