Yom HaShoah Presentation and Commemoration
Wednesday, April 27, 2022 • 26 Nisan 5782
6:45 PM - 8:00 PMJoin us for a special program in honor of Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), which begins on the evening of April 27th this year. Local educator and author Miriam Dobin will discuss her memoir, I Am Because of You, a tale of how her family survived near-annihilation during the Holocaust and blossomed into future generations. An only child of survivors, Miriam will tell the story of her parents, aunt, and uncle, who all survived the Holocaust, from her second generation perspective. She will also share about her trip to Auschwitz, the concentration camp in Poland where her mother, aunt, and uncle were imprisoned, and her visit to her parents' hometowns in Slovakia and Western Ukraine, where she miraculously met a neighbor of her grandparents who lived there over eighty years ago and still lives there today. Please visit Miriam's website for more information: www.iambecauseofyou.net.
There will be a Q&A session after the presentation and books will be available for purchase after the program. There will also be a short memorial service to honor and remember the lives lost during the Holocaust.
