Thanksgiving Baskets
Yoshe Juniors are excited to pack Thanksgiving baskets to give to families in need! Please help us by purchasing and donating the items on this list (shelf stable only). They have a lofty goals.  We are trying to help them reach their goal to help as many families as possible! You can drop off your items by the main Temple door. (Please note that each slot is for 5 items - except the turkey gift cards). We appreciate your generosity this season!

WINTER SHELTER OVERNIGHT PROGRAM
Shelter Volunteer Information & SignUps

Temple Shaari Emeth participates in the Emergency Housing and Advocacy Program's (EHAP) winter overnight program. 

Each Saturday evening from December through March volunteers are needed for the following:

• One volunteer/family/group to provide and serve a hot meal for approximately 12 men
• Two volunteers to drive/provide transportation for the men from St. Peter's Church in Freehold to Temple Shaari Emeth
• *At least ONE volunteer to stay overnight at the Temple
• One volunteer to deliver food for breakfast on Sunday morning (this is delivered a few days in advance)
  
  

*A security guard is present and sits in the room with the men overnight. You are not required to stay awake all night and we have two self-inflating air mattresses that you can use to sleep comfortably in the temple office.

Miracle Menorah

Temple Shaari Emeth has a holiday tradition of putting a “Miracle Menorah” in the temple lobby covered with paper mittens so our congregants can do the great mitzvah of helping children from at risk families receive perhaps their only gifts for the holiday season.

This year TSE is proud to sponsor both the Raine Foundation and Jewish Family & Children’s Service. 

The Raine Foundation mittens are designated with labels of an individual child and her/his/their desired gift. 

Jewish Family & Children’s Service has requested all gift cards (Target, Walmart, Kohls, Amex, etc.) so the mittens are designated with a $25.00 minimum.

We are also offering on-line donations for Jewish Family & Children’s Service for those individuals who are not coming into the Temple.

It is with great sadness we share that Lynn Morgan, sister of Mark Passen and sister-in-law to Joyce Passen passed away on November 10, 2022. Lynn was the aunt of Michael Jukofsky and Rachel Jukofsky. 

May God console those who mourn in Zion, Jerusalem and throughout the world

We wanted to update you on the security threat that was shared with the community yesterday.  

The FBI worked quickly to identify the individual who made a threat in an online forum. He was neutralized and the FBI does not believe that he is connected to any other individuals or groups, in relation to the threat. 

The State and Manalapan Police will continue to provide heightened presence at our Synagogue, and the security enhancements we have put in place will remain throughout Shabbat into next week.

We are grateful to the State and local authorities who continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish community and are working tirelessly to ensure our safety.

Thank you for your support during this challenging time.

May God who makes peace in the heavens, bring peace to us, to all Israel and to all the inhabitants of the world.

Other Upcoming Adult Education

Have you ever been interested in learning to read Shabbat prayers? Have you wanted to help your child prepare for his/her b’nai mitzvah? Have you missed out on your own bar/bat mitzvah service? Or are you just intrigued about learning something new with other interested adults?

If so, this year Shaari Emeth is offering our Adult Hebrew Class for Beginners! This is the first step towards becoming an adult B-Mitzvah! We will start the year with learning the Aleph Bet and continue with the study of the Shabbat prayers. It will be instructed by TSE member Marilyn Beutel, an experienced Hebrew and Judaic studies educator.

Classes will begin on November 1st 7:00pm -8:00pm and continue on Tuesday nights throughout the school year. Ready to tackle what your children have been studying for years?  Sign up and join us!

Mean Girls star Erika Henningsen will head the cast of the world premiere of Joy the Musical, which will play New Jersey's George Street Playhouse December 7–30.

Directed by Casey Hushion (Aladdin, The Prom) with choreography by Emmy winner and Tony nominee Joshua Bergasse, the new musical features a score by Tony nominee AnnMarie Milazzo, musical supervision by Andy Einhorn, and a book by Tony winner Ken Davenport. The latter obtained the rights to the life story of best-selling author, inventor, and self-made millionaire Joy Mangano.

The musical focuses on Joy, the girl who becomes the woman who founded a business dynasty. Facing betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence, and the scars of love, Joy becomes a boss of family and enterprise.

Enjoy the world premiere of Joy at the George Street Playhouse with the Renaissance group.

“Joy” is a heartwarming story and powerful biographical musical based on the life of Joy Mangano, the entrepreneur, inventor, best-selling author and self-made millionaire whose journey  epitomizes the real American dream.

Dear families,

In a time as digitally connected as ours, it is more difficult now than ever to make new friends and create new relationships. For young Jewish adults looking to meet other Jews their age, opportunities for social engagement are even fewer and farther between than for others of their own generation. 

As we come out of the pandemic, we want to emerge stronger than ever before, and the best way to do that is for us to meet in person, celebrating our presence with one another. To that end, we're thrilled to invite your children ages 21-30 to our new young adult initiative with Rabbi Falco: Torah on Tap! Come out to share a drink with similarly aged Jews and talk about the latest and hottest topics in the Jewish world with R. Falco. Other events, like trivia night and speed dating, are also in the works and future dates will be determined in concert with participant availability. By passing this message along, we hope your children will embrace this opportunity to expand their Jewish social network and lay the foundation for a stronger one ahead. 

​​​​​​​Our first meeting will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday, November 9th at the Court Jester in Freehold. 

It is with great sadness we share that Joel Steiner, brother of Joyce (Mark) Passen passed away on October 18, 2022. Joel was the uncle of Michael Jukofsky and Rachel Jukofsky. The funeral will be in Florida.

Services this Week

Once a year we celebrate a Shabbat honoring the history of our Temple. This year we have invited two of our founding members to share memories of the earliest days of our Temple community. Join us for a special Shabbat honoring Allan and Barbara Pekor. Allan was the first President of Temple Shaari Emeth, and Babara was one of the first and longest working teachers at the Temple. They will share their stories and the history of how Temple Shaari Emeth came into existence.

Adult Education

In August 2020, a radical shift in the political landscape of the Middle East was formalized by the signing of the Abraham Accords – a peace agreement between Israel and a number of neighboring Arab states, including Bahrain, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, and the Republic of Sudan.
