At Temple Shaari Emeth, we embrace a culture of lifelong Jewish learning and active engagement in communal Jewish life. Taking ownership of one’s Jewish identity through study and publicly affirming one’s place in the Jewish world through ritual are powerful means of connecting to our tradition on a spiritual level. Come join us for services on March 15th as past participants of our Adult B’nai Mitzvah program share with us what their journeys meant to them

HIAS Shabbat Lenny Glickman
The Jewish people are known for many things, one of which is the many years of painful wandering from place to place in the absence of a land of our own. The old Jewish adage that, “kol hatkhalot kashot” – that all beginnings are challenging – is especially true for those beginning a new life in a new place. The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) has a storied history of assisting Jewish refugees and asylum seekers escape persecution and live without fear of repression. HIAS’s mission has expanded over the years to meet the needs of the moment and today offers assistance to refugees and asylum seekers of all backgrounds from around the world. Join us for Shabbat services on March 22nd as we welcome community member Lenny Glickman to speak to us about his own experience working for HIAS and its deep connection to Jewish values and tradition.
