I want to share information with you about this weekend. You may have heard that White supremacist groups are trying to organize antisemitic activities as a “National Day of Hate” throughout this coming weekend and especially this Saturday. While neither we or our partners in the local and national Jewish community or local and national law enforcement community are aware of any specific threats, we know that these groups are hoping for increased antisemitic flier distributions, protests and graffiti. We know that this is frightening; it is completely unacceptable that the Jewish community — or any community — should be targeted by extremists spreading hate and alarm.
In response to this, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is asking everyone to join together in sharing a message of unity against antisemitism and hate.
Before the Jewish Sabbath, please be sure to let your online community know that you will not back down, and you will not be intimidated by extremists.
ADL created the above graphic to add to your #ShabbatOfPeaceNotHate posts online. Please click here to download it so you can share it. Or, if you’re not on social media, please forward this email to at least three friends to ensure they will raise their voices alongside you.
While we are not aware of any specific threats, either in our area or nationally, we are contiuing to be in communication with our partners in law enforcement and Jewish communities. Temple Shaari Emeth will have an increased presence by the Manalapan Police Department, as well as by our paid security, who are all current or former local or federal law enforcement officers; and the firm is owned by two former SWAT training offers. This increased presence has been on site today and will continue through religious school and other programming on Sunday. We constantly evaluate any potential threats.
We hope that you will join in unity to show that Antisemites do NOT intimidate us.
