I hope you and your families are safe and well. As you know due to the pandemic (Coronavirus/Covid 19) there still is a shelter at home order in place that will continue, at a minimum, until May.
In light of the NJ State of Emergency physical distancing requirements, it does not seem feasible to have the congregation meeting with the congregation coming together in the Social Hall, as has been our practice for many years. Therefore I have asked the Board of Trustees to change the date of our annual congregation meeting from April 26th to May 3rd in order to put the following procedures in place only for the 2020 year. The procedures are as follows:
Date
Explanation
April 19, 2020 - April 24, 2020
Nominations from the floor. An email will be sent to members of our congregation in order to solicit any nominations from the floor. This solicitation will remain open for five days. The nomination period from the floor will end on April 24th 2020. Any nominations from the floor will require a biography of the nominee. Anyone nominated from the floor will be seconded by our Secretary.
April 26, 2020
Entire Slate and Budget sent via email. The entire slate and budget will be emailed to congregation members for electronic voting. The email will have a link that will lead our congregants to a form where they can vote on each board seat as well as yes or no on the budget. In circumstances where congregants do not have access to a computer, paper forms will be available for the congregant. Voting will remain open until May 10th.
May 3, 2020
Congregation Meeting. The Congregation meeting will be held via Zoom. Congregants will be urged to send questions in advance of the congregation meeting; however, during the meeting additional questions can be addressed via group chat on Zoom.
May 10, 2020
Voting Period Ends. Votes for the slate and the budget will be counted.
May 13, 2020
Results. Results of the election, including the vote on the budget, will be released via email and on the TSE Website.
Typically, this is a change that would require an amendment to the constitution with a vote by the congregation; however, under these extraordinary circumstances, the Board of Trustees has approved this change in the interest of maintaining the health and safety of the congregation.
Please follow the health department directives as we hope this will minimize the spread of this virus.
Please stay positive and strong! Soon we will all be together again!
