Dear Friends,
We would like to share some information with you on the status of the Temple and programs during this difficult time. Despite our physical distance, which is necessary now so that we can all do our best to stay healthy, we are all working hard to stay connected to all of our members and families. The clergy, senior staff, and the entire Board of Trustees appreciates your continued patience, support, and flexibility during this challenging time.
Although we are dealing with many unknowns at this point, we remain committed to providing a meaningful and warm learning and spiritual experience. The entire community, including our clergy, senior staff, and Religious School and ELC teachers, are quickly learning new technologies and working to keep the Temple relevant as we continue to work together to maintain a full calendar of programming for the community. Consistent with the values that support all programs at Temple Shaari Emeth, it is our intention to continue paying staff, including our amazing teachers, maintenance, and support staff. Although this is a difficult commitment to make, we simply think that it is the right thing to do. While the building is not open to the public, we are continuing maintenance so that the building is ready for us when we are all able to return to it.
We understand that the pandemic and the associated economic crisis create a significant amount of uncertainty for all of us, and that many are personally experiencing significant economic difficulties. With this in mind, we are asking that, to the degree possible, you continue to contribute Temple dues and possibly consider making an additional contribution if you are able. By working together, we can continue to be here for all of our members.
Our best thoughts are with you for your family’s health and welfare during this time. If the Temple or clergy can be of any help or support in any way, please let us know. We are here for you.
Warm regards,
Fabian Burstyn, Temple President
Rabbi Melinda Panken
Cantor Wally Schachet-Briskin
Stuart Brown, Executive Director
Melissa Pescatore, Religious School Director
Sheryn Cohen, Early Learning Center Director
