What is happening at Temple Shaari Emeth We are continuing to get updates from our local, County, and State health departments; as well as from the Centers for Disease Control, and the State of NJ Department of Homeland Security.
At this time, we are not cancelling any services or activities; but this can change quickly, and we will keep you informed of any changes to our schedule. We are continuing to thoroughly clean the building, using disinfectants that are certified to kill coronavirus. In addition we have made the following changes to support best practices in terms of avoiding any transmission of the virus.
We have installed extra hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the building. The best practice is to sanitize your hands when you enter the building and when you leave. This will lessen the likelihood that you bring anything unwanted into or out of the building.
For the time being, we are changing what is served at Oneg on Friday evenings. Single serve packages of cookies and pre-sliced/plated cake (if we're celebrating a simcha) will be served. If there is other food, it will be served by staff or volunteers.
All toys in the Early Learning Center are being treated with safe disinfectant daily. All tables and chairs in the classrooms are also being cleaned daily.
You will see signs throughout the building that encourage hand washing. We are also taking the opportunity to teach all of the children in the ELC and Religious School to practice appropriate hand cleaning practices.
We have extra tissue boxes throughout the building. We have placed trash receptacles in the sanctuary so that used tissues can be disposed of appropriately.
Please forego kissing, hugging, handshaking, etc. at the temple during this time. Waves, elbow bumps, toe taps, or other safer salutations are encouraged. We realize that despite the precautions we are taking, some people, especially those in high risk groups will appropriately avoid coming to services and other activities at the temple. We are currently working through some issues that will allow us to stream services, and possibly other activities to members. We will share that information with you when we can.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
The Temple Shaari Emeth Caring Community endeavors to provide our community support. They share in many aspects of our life’s journey. Temple members deliver gifts to families who have just had additions to their families, also providing them with a dinner. We also deliver meals to members who are ill or recovering from hospital stays. We also provide bereavement services. In addition, the Caring Community will begin making phone calls to check-in with members of our community who may be compelled to spend more time away from the temple and other public places.
