ELC Jump-a-Thon for Knots Love

During the year our students are taught what it means to do a mitzvah (a good deed), and what it means to give tzedakah (helping people or causes in need). Each Spring we highlight a special charity/organization and hold a special school wide, class participation, fundraiser to raise money for the organization.

This March, we will raise money in memory of Megan Sandusky Luciano who passed away this past September from a very rare form of cancer at the age of 36. Megan was sister to Cory Sandusky, sister in-law to Corinne Sandusky and aunt to William Sandusky, who is  currently in Mrs. Kaplan's Threes class. Megan was born and raised in Old Bridge, NJ and worked for the Marlboro Elementary school district. She touched the lives of her students as we know teachers often do.

For 36 years Megan held on to her favorite baby blanket. She loved her blanket as a child and as she grew up, and for many years, she used her blanket as a source of comfort. She loved traveling with her husband John and she even brought this blanket along with her for long trips. In Megan's memory, we will fundraise and donate our collections to the organization "Knots of Love''. The organization donates hand knit hats and blankets to babies in the NICU and to those battling cancer and undergoing treatment.

On March 21st the ELC will hold a Jump-A-Thon in memory of Megan Sandusky Luciano and in honor of so many people currently battling cancer and newborns who are in the NICU.
