    Yoshe Juniors Stories Across Generations

    Join YOSHE Juniors for Stories Across Generations! We’ll visit the residents at Mattison Crossing to play board games, do arts & crafts, and — most importantly — spend time interviewing the residents and hearing their life stories. Together we’ll build connections across generations and live out the Jewish value of l’dor vador — from generation to generation. Drop off is at 11:30am at Mattison Crossing where we'll acquaint ourselves with its residents through prepared interview questions, accompanied by some bagels & schmear! Pickup is at 1pm at Mattison Crossing.

    Yoshe Juniors - The Cost of Hunger
    Monday, Feb 9th 6:30p to 8:00p
    Poverty exists all around us — but what does it really mean for those who live with it every day? Imagine having to choose between groceries, medicine, or other needs, simply because of the dollars in your pocket. Join YOSHE Juniors at Wegmans for a hands-on simulation where we’ll try to stretch a $35 food budget for the week. We’ll begin upstairs with a pizza dinner together, then head into the store to experience the challenges families in our community and beyond face each day. All food and proceeds will be donated to Open Door.

    Join YOSHE Juniors for a special tour of Open Door’s food pantry. We’ll go behind the scenes to see how donations are sorted, stored, and shared with families in need. Together we’ll learn about the mitzvah of feeding the hungry (ma’achil re’evim) and discover the difference a community can make when we open our doors to others.

    Yoshe Juniors Stones of Memory

    Join YOSHE Juniors for a meaningful mitzvah project as we visit a local Jewish cemetery to help with clean-up and to take part in the tradition of placing small stones on headstones as a sign of respect. Together we’ll learn about the value of kavod hamet — honoring those who have passed — and reflect on how caring for sacred spaces connects us to our community’s past and future.

    Sunday, May 3rd (All day)
    Join YOSHE Juniors as we return to Open Door's community garden that provides fresh seasonal food for those who need it. We’ll be cleaning the garden and preparing it for planting, and if time, start some planting ourselves! Be sure to bring your gardening clothes and any gloves, shovels, or rakes you may have as we get to work on our hands and knees to beautify the space and give back to the community!
