Authors Sheila Pallay and Jewish genealogist Julius Müller will join us to share their collaborative work, Light Beyond the Shadows: The Legacy of the Czech Torah Scrolls and the Renewal of Jewish Life in Czechia, published by the Memorial Scrolls Trust. This powerful presentation combines Pallay’s striking photography and Müller’s expertise as a leading genealogist and director of Toledot, the Jewish Family History Centre in Prague. Together, they will guide us through the remnants of Jewish communities decimated during the Holocaust—Torah scrolls, synagogues, and cemeteries—while also highlighting the remarkable renewal of Jewish life in the region today. Through images, stories, and historical insight, we will encounter both the shadows of loss and the enduring light of resilience and memory.
