Social Action/Justice Committee at Temple Shaari Emeth

Co-Chair Stacy Goto - sgoto@shaariemeth.org

Co-Chair Brion Feinberg - bfeinberg@shaariemeth.org

The Social Action/Justice committee at Temple Shaari Emeth works to address the needs of our community.

Social Action refers to our direct service activities - donating clothing, books, toys, food, etc.

Social Justice refers to our work to educate, inspire and mobilize our congregation to advocate for changes that address injustices in our society. We work with various partners who align with our Jewish values on topics such as voting rights, protecting the environment, and ensuring equal rights for minority groups. We work with state and local government offices and we work closely with the Religious Action Center (RAC) of Reform Judaism, the hub for social justice and legislative activity for the Reform Jewish community in the United States. We are non-partisan. We campaign for policies that we believe reflect the Jewish value of pursuing justice for all.

Free, fair, safe, and accessible elections depend on the people who administer them – local election officials, staff, poll workers, volunteers, and community members who help ensure that voting is smooth, secure, accurate, and trustworthy.

As part of the Reform Movement’s Every Voice Every Vote Campaign, Temple Shaari Emeth’s Social Justice Committee is meeting with Monmouth County Clerk, Christine Hanlon to learn more about how elections are administered in our community and how we can support local election work in a nonpartisan way.

We are inviting community members to join this conversation. Please share this invitation with anyone who is interested.

During the meeting, we hope to:

● Express appreciation for the work of our local election officials.

● Learn about the office’s priorities and needs for the upcoming election.

● Ask how community members can serve as poll workers or support election administration.

● Learn where to find accurate local election information.

● Explore future opportunities for civic learning and engagement.

This meeting is strictly nonpartisan. It is not about candidates or parties. It is about learning how our community can help support trustworthy, accessible, and well-administered elections.

Please register here. We hope to see you there!
